From 1 Jan 2021 the UK will no longer apply the rules of the Single Market and the Customs Union (save for in Northern Ireland in accordance with the Protocol).
This will mean significant change for businesses with customs and SPS checks on goods imported from and exported to Britain, regardless of the outcome of the ongoing EU-UK future relationship negotiations.
If you want to continue exporting or importing live animals, plants and products of animal and plant origin to or from Britain, the person responsible for the consignment must register with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (the Department) and comply with the appropriate UK and EU regulatory requirements.
Registration with the Department as an importer and/or exporter can be undertaken by completing a form that is available on request from brexitregistration@agriculture.gov.ie .
If you are already a customer of the Department you may need to update your registration details to ensure that you are categorised correctly as an Importer and/or an Exporter. Please send a request for the “Registration Amendment Form” by email to BrexitRegistration@agriculture.gov.ie
In addition, if you are trading in animals or goods that require TRACES access please complete the relevant part of the forms below and the Department will assist in this registration.
The Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES) is the European Commission’s online platform for the electronic completion of documentation required for imports of consignments from third countries and certain intra community trade movements. See here for more details
